“What happens,” asks Luis Felipe Fabre, “to the body dressed in Sánchez-Kane?” Its limbs mutate. Its organs swell. It sprouts an ear where once was an arm. The body becomes monstrous, vampiric. Its identity is slurred. Its image stripped. It disappears. New Lexicons for Embodiment celebrates Bárbara Sánchez-Kane’s (1987, Mérida, Mexico) eponymous sartorio-sculptural exhibition at Kurimanzutto, New York, from Sept. 14 through Oct. 21, 2023.
